  • a colon at the beginning of a paragraph indents the margin for that paragraph (not first line): can be used in multiple, e.g., ":::text" for multiple tab-stops.

V. and R. problem[edit]

Prayers including V. and R. need a better approach than default paragraph spacing, for use in this and other prayer books and missals. They should be offset, and there should be more space between the indication and the text. Some books use colors too.

Found: ℣ character, look for R.

Compare to: Litanies, poems, plays.

Consider: indents (:), center or justified blocks, tables, columns, gaps, wsp

Other formatting issues in this book that might apply to other books:

Psalms and hymns: Make them poems, using poem code and/or indent (:), block center, etc.

See below for multicolumn for Latin/English parallel columns.

Create Columns using templates[edit]

  • {{multicol}}, {{multicol-break}}, {{multicol-section}}, {{multicol-end}}, this template uses a table to create multiple columns of text. You need to place the breaks explicitly, but they will never move.
  • {{div col}}, {{div col end}}, which uses CSS3 properties to create columns dynamically. The reader's browser will choose where best to put the breaks, so the layout cannot be guaranteed not to change. This one is good for lists, as you don't need to worry about placing {{multicol-break}}s.
