Hi, I have deleted "Maryland History and Government, 1634-present" because we do not want pages which link to documents or websites -- we want to archive the documents themselves. Cheers, John Vandenberg (chat) 12:06, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
help me: It is a huge mistake for Wikisource not to link to and acknowledge authoritative web based documentary sources. For example, the Charter of Maryland you are including is not only not the authoritative text of the Charter, is is completely unidentified as to source. Wikisource should be related to, and complimentary to, trusted archival sources of documentary text, referring to those trusted sources, rather than trying to replace them.
- You are right. We do need to improve our texts. Many have been donated without images, nor documentation regarding where the text was obtained from. The Charter of Maryland is a poor quality contribution added back in 2004; by all means feel free to replace it with a better text. We are slowly replacing all texts with texts+images. For example Index:California State Constitution of 1879.djvu will eventually replace California Constitution. If you see a text which doesnt look correct, tag it with {{Fidelity}}.
- With regard to linking to authoritative websites, that is a great idea, provided you only do it on pages that begin with "Wikisource:". For example, I have just updated Wikisource:Maryland. John Vandenberg (chat) 01:24, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Ecpclio. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Ecpclio~enwikisource that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
