Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikisource! Thank you for joining the project. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Please consider putting a brief description of yourself on your user page. If you are already a contributor to another Wikimedia project, such as Wikipedia, please mention this on your user page so we know how to contact you. Also, mention which languages you understand if English is not your first language.

In any case, I hope you enjoy donating your time to grow the Wikisource library that is free for everyone to use! In discussions, please "sign" your comments using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question here (click edit) and place {{helpme}} before your question.

Again, welcome! John Vandenberg (chat) 02:04, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'am new but eager to help! --Lone.guner 02:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Great. What type of works are you most interested in?

A good place to help is at Category:Works with no header template. Each of those pages is missing a header, which means that the author isnt clearly defined, and it could mean the page is a copyright violation.

As an example, Black Girl is a folk song. The author isnt known, but according to w:Where Did You Sleep Last Night it was published by w:Cecil Sharp in a 1917 book. Try adding the header to that page. John Vandenberg (chat) 02:22, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You need to add this to the page (and fill in at least the title):

{{header2
 | title =
 | author =
 | translator =
 | section =
 | previous =
 | next =
 | notes =
}}

I have updated Black Girl. John Vandenberg (chat) 03:52, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sangharakshita[edit]

Sangharakshita is still alive, which means his works are covered by copyright. Unless you can secure a license from him to host these works, they will need to be deleted. John Vandenberg (chat) 04:04, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Poems[edit]

Hey, just thought I'd point out the small changes I made in your Shropshire Lad - just so you know for next time. The (poem) tags mean that formatting will remain the same as you paste, with spacing and line breaks :) Thanks for your work Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Author:Ovid 16:25, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
