Italics etc.

A few things to get started:

1. [1] The names of newspapers etc. are often shown in the source text in italics. We can reproduce that here by using double apostrophes on each side of the name as in: ''London Review'', which renders as London Review. If you wanted to bold something you'd use triple apostrophes like '''Bold Text'' to render as Bold Text.
2. [optional] As well as pages for source texts, Wikisource maintains author pages. eg. Author:George Fletcher Moore. These provide a place to list and link to the author's works, or works about that author. At this time there's only a handful related to what you're doing and they're all at Category:Western Australian authors. When an author is mentioned in the source text we can wikilink to his author page by typing (for eg.) [[Author:George Fletcher Moore|G.F. Moore]], which renders as G.F. Moore. Generally we only link to each author page the first time he's mentioned in each chapter though. (I say this is optional because you've got enough to come up to speed with already, and author links can be added later.)
3. emdashes within a paragraph usually don't have spaces between them and the word(s) they surround. So—like this—and not — like this — OK? You can type an emdash into the edit screen from your keyboard by holding down the Alt key and typing 0151 on the numeric keypad. Or if you'd prefer, for that and other obscure non-keyboard characters, while in the edit screen, press the 'Select' drop down list at the very bottom of the page, select 'Ligatures and symbols', find the character you want and click on it.

Style guide

You asked about this. Wikisource has Wikisource:Style guide, but that is more about linking and internals than style per se—here, the source will generally define the style you will aim to follow.
