Contains five Seif. 1 The craw has two membranes. If one is punctured and not the other - it's kosher, until they are both are punctured (near) at the same place. But if one is punctured where it's not by the other one('s puncture) - it's kosher. 2 If it's punctured but the fat that's on it seals it - it's kosher. Rema: And all the more so if not both the membranes are punctured; even if there remains only a little of the outer membrane that's not punctured it so it's kosher (T"H end #165). 3 If a needle is stuck in it from inside its rule is the same as for a needle found in the Hemses and Beit haKosot. Rema: If the needle is found within the thickness of its flesh and cannot be recognized from inside nor outside see above #48. 4 The fact that we rule it kosher when only the outer membrane is punctured, is specifically when it becomes punctured on its own due to illness and not due to a thorn or needle when it's treif as we are then concerned one of the inner organs is punctured and a puncture of any size is significant there. If it's not evident whether it's pierced due to a thorn or disease we ascribe it [to illness] and it's kosher (o.o. and O"M). 5 If worms are coming out of the craw - it's kosher, as they separated out after shechita.
