אימר, אימרא, אמר, אמרא (אימרה) m. (אמר, V אס, v. אמם; cmp. עמרא, חומרא, אמר) 1) [hick, heavy,] lamb. Targ. Gen. XXX, 32; a. fr. -- Ned. I, 3 this be as forbidden to me כאימרא (Y. ib. I, end, 37a כאימרה) as the lamb'-תמידא־ כאימר that means, 'as the lamb of the daily offering'. Lam. R. introd. (R. Josh. 2) אמ׳ נכיס דהוה וכ׳ who slaughters a lamb and augurs from its liver. Erub. 53b (deriding the Galilean dialect) a Galilean cried וכ׳ למאן אמר who wants amar? (indistinctly pronoun- cing the vowels, as well as the guttural sound of א), when they said to him . . . ., למשתי חמר או למירכב חמר לאיתכסאה אימר או למילבש עמר (for var. lect., v. Rabb. D. אימרה (אימרא) h. f. (v. preced.) 1) fringe, bor- der, skirt; trnsf. the bordered garment, (toga pretexta), state garment. Taan. 11b; Ab. Zar. 34a בו שאין לבן חלוק אימראא a white plain frock without border (without of- fcial distinction; cmp. toga pura). Y. Kil. IX, 32a top; Posef. ib. V, 19 המפורסמת) א׳ a conspicuous border gar- ment. Y. Kid. IV, beg. 65b (play on אמר Ezra II, 59) וכ׳ פירסמו they made themselves as conspicuous as the border on the frock. Sabb. 105c; Tosef. ib. XII (XIII), 1. -Y. Yoma I, 38d top; Y. Meg. *אימרייא m. (מרי, v. next w.) rebellion. Lam. R. to III, 15 (rendering אשפתו בני ibid. 'the children of those thrown down' (into the dung, onquered), Rab ex- plains 'the children of his destruction' (v. אופיכא), בני אימרייה the children of rebellion against him. *אימרנא m. (=h. מרון; v. אימר a. preced.) rebellion. א׳ בני rebels. R. Hash. 18a (translating מרון בני Mish.) (all creatures pass before the Lord for receiving their decrees) א׳ כבני like rebels (after surrender brought be- fore a court martial; cmp. Midr. Till. to Ps. XVII, 1, s. v. אפופסין, a. Y. R. Hash.
