אנינה f. (אנן) grief, retired mourning, esp. the status of the mourner between death and burial of a. kinsman, contrad. to אבילה, אבילות. Lam. R. introd. (R. Abbahu 4) מבפנים א׳ aninah is indoor (retired) grief. Y. Hor. III, 48a ttop וכ׳ א׳ איזהו what is aninah h-- The time from death to &c. Y. Pes. VII, 35a top אנינת תורה לילה observance of aninah by night is biblical. Gen. R. s. 85 he is named (nan לעצמו א׳ שהביא because he brought mourning over his early death.

אניסכא com. (v. ניסכא) made of cast metal, opp. ארוקתא of wrought or stretched metal. Sabb. 59b דא׳ וכ׳ כ״ע (Rashi ed. דניסכא) as to those made of cast metal there is no difference of opinion. Ib. עיקר א׳ (prob. to be read מיקר, v. Ms. M.) what is made of cast metal is more precious (original).

אניץ, עניץ m. (אנץ, ענץ, sec. r. of אוץ, עוץ) [tight bundle], only in pl. const..פשתן אניצי (עע) flax-stas after they are soaked, beaten and baked. B. Mets. II, 1 (21a). Y. Succ. I, 52b bot.; Bab. ib. 12b (Ar., Ms. M., Tosef. ib. I, 6 עניצי); a. fr. V. אונין.

אניקא m. (אנק) trouble, affliction. Targ. Y. Gen. XXII, 20; a. e. -- Pl. אניקי, אניקין (often used asaingular). Targ. Lev. XXI, 10 (affiction by death in the family); a. e. Cmp. אננקא.
אניקותא f. same. Targ. Ps. CII, 21.
אנך (sec. r. of אך, cmp. חנך) 1) to rub, polish, finish, esp. to glaze vessels, to line (with onyx). Tosef. Kel. B. Mets. I 3 וכ׳ באנך שאנכן .. . . כלים (or שאנכן Pi.) clean vessels which one lined with unclean glaצze (onyx); v. אנ. - 2) (cmp. חכך) to make sore, to grieve. Denom. אך I.
*אנך I m. (preced. 2)) grief, wrong. B. Mets. 59a all gates are sometimes closed except the gates (of prayer) of those wronged by men (v. אונאה), for it says, (AKmos VII, 3) "Behold the Lord stands on the wall of anakh and in his hand he holds anakh (oppression).2 Ib. אונאה א׳ ובידו דכתיב the Lord hears the prayer of the wronged, for it says &c.; v. אוניתא.
אנך II (b. h., prob. fr. a demonstr. אן, cmp. הן, דוך &c., a. אני, אנכי) plummet, plumb-line.. Lev. R. s. 33, beg. a. e. וכ׳ סנהדרי זה א׳ by the plummet (Amos VII, 7) the Great Sanedrin are meant whose number (11) corres- ponds with the numerical value of אנך.
אנך, אינך m. (אנך) 1)) Onyx Agate, a semipellucid stone of a fine flinty texture. Ab. Zar. 8b Ar. אנך (ed. אינך). -- 2) a variety of gypseous alabaster, onyx; a glaze. Ib. 11b בא׳ . . . . ומחפין Ar. (ed. באי׳) the streets are paved with &c. (for the procession). Tosef. Kel. B. Mets. lI, 3, v. אנך. Lev. R. s. 33 nothing makes the kettle dur- able וכ׳ אנכה אלא but its glaze lining; so says the Lord וכ׳ אנככם I am your lining (stay) in trials (incorr. in some ed. a. Ar. s. v. נך).
אנכי (b. h.; v. אנך II; cmp. אינך) I. Pesik. R. s. 21, v. אנוך. Sabb. 105a נוטריקון א׳ anokhi may be interpreted as an acrostichon יהבית כתבית נפשי אנא I myself have written, have given (the Law). Pesik. Bahod. p. 109b; v. אנוך. - Pl. אנחנ, נחו. Ber. 14b; a. fr. V. אני, או.

II, 3 וכ׳ פרוס׳ לולגין או ed. Zuck. (Var. לגין אלו, ed. לוגין אולו read אנאלוגין; used as fem.) a reading desk spread out is clean, folded together is unclean (susceptible of levitical uncleanness).

אנן (b. h.; sec. r. of און, v. און) to press, oppress, wrong, v. אנה. -- אונן one who feels grieved, mourner, esp. (nan, mourner before the burial of a kinsman, con- trad. to אבל; v. אנינה. M. Kat. 14b א׳ מקריב may officiate at sacrifices though being an Onan. -- Pl. אוננין. Snh. 47b א׳ אלא מתאבלין היו לא they observed no mourning cere- monies but lived in silent and retired mourning. ---Fem. אוננת. Keth. 53a. -- Denom. אנין complaining, fastidious, feeble. Pl. הדעת אניני fastidious of taste, easily taking an aversion, delicate. Pes. 113b. Cmp. איסתניס. Nithpa. נתאונן to feel wronged, complain of being overreached, v. אנה.
