ערסי m., pl. ערסיין (preced. art.) belonging to a bed- stead; ע׳ (מלין) strapping, girthing. Y. Sabb. VII, 10a top וכ׳ ע׳ מ׳ דעבד הן (Or Zar. Sabb. 64 ערסמו דעביד, read ערסיין) he who does girthing work (on the Sabbath), if lengthwise &c.

*ערסל (v. next w.) to swing (ike a hammock). Hithpa. התערסל to be swuung; to waddle, stagger. Gen. R. s. 31 מתערסלות דגליו והיו ליכנם בא דוב quot. in Rashi to Ez. ערעיתאII. ערעיתא f.=h. ארעה. wasp, hornet. Targ. o. Ex. XXIII, 28 ער׳ ed. Berl. (oth. ed. ער׳, ער׳). Targ. Josh. XXIV, 12; a. e. - Sabb. 80b וכ׳ מן ע׳ ונפקא a wasp came out of the wall and stung him &c., v. אנדיפי. -- V. אאורעיתא.
ערער, עיר׳ I (Pilp. of עור) 1) to stir up, excite to lamentation. M. Kat. 8a וכ׳ יערער לא, v. עור Polel. -- 2) [to stir up strife, distarb,] to contestt the legality of an action, the legitimacy of a person, his fitness as judge, witness &c. Y. Snh. III, 21d top קיים עררו ועי׳ בא אם if he comes and. protests (against the judgment given in his absence), his protest is valid. Y. Ned. V, end, 39b וכ׳ ויערער שיבוא מי כל whosoever may at some future time contest this donation (having a claim against the property); a. e. --[Meg. 25b המערערים those inclined to argue, -a censorial change from המומרים or המינים; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 8.]-- 3) to stir on by chiding, to scold. Sot. ערער II (b. h.; cmp. כרה I) to lay bare, strip, denude; to make lonely. Pesik. Aniya, p. 134b (expl. סערה, Is. DIIV, 11) וכ׳ שערוערוה מערערתא the stripped (or lonely) one whom the nations have denuded (with ref. to ערו, Ps. CXXXVII, 7); Yalk. s. 339 ערוה שעיר (read; שעירערוה). Yalk. Num. 708 (play on למרים המאררים המים, Num. V, 24) העון את ומערערין הגוף את שממררין (not ששממרין) because they make the body bitter (sick), and lay the sin bare; Sifre Num. 11 העין את ומרעדים (corr. acc.); Num. R. s. 9 וכ׳ ומבערין הגוף את שמאררים (corr. acc.; v., also, ברר). Nithpalp. נתערער to be stripped, bare. Midr. Till. to Ps.
