III, 58d top וכ׳ על ע׳ קרא if obbjection was raised against the signature &c. Y. Gitt. עשונית f. (v. עשש, a. עשת) hard and level ground. Mekh. B'shall., Shir., s. 5 (ref. to Ex. XV, 5) תהומות וכי היא ע׳ והלא שם יש are any abysses there?, is not it (the bottom of the Red Sea) even and hard?; יש מצולות וכי היתה ע׳ והלא שם (read היא) are any whirlpools there? &c.; Yalk. עשי, עשה (b. h.; cmp. עסי) 1) to do, work, prepare (corresp. in variety of meanings to עבד). Shebi. VIII, 6 וכ׳ זתים עושין אין (in the Sabbatical year) you must not prepare (press, cmp. עי) olives in the press &c. Tosef. ib. VI, 29 גרוגרות אותן עושין אין you must not prepare them as dried figs. Ib. 8 וכ׳ היין את עושין אין you must not make aluntith wine (v. אלונטית II). Sabb. 118a, a. e. וכ׳ חול שבתך עשה make thy Sabbath a week-day (as to expense), and be independent of men. Ib. 56a לעשות שביקש ע׳ ולא he wanted to do (evil), but did not do it. Ber. 17a (ref. tto Ps.
