תקל (emp. תקע) to strike, knock. Nif. נתקל to strike against, stumble (cmp. כשל). Yalk. Num. 764 וכ׳ בדבר שנתקלו כשתראה when thou seest that they (Israel) have stumbled in anything, eap thou against (attack) them. B. Kam. III, 1ושברה בה ו׳ . . . המניח if one left his pitcher on public ground, and another man came and struck against it, and broke it. VII, 4 לאדם שבאת לפי וכ׳ אחר דבר ידה על ח׳ because an offence has come to a man through it (the animal with which sodomy has been committed), therefore the text says, that it must be stoned; another reason, (it must be put to death,) lest the animal pass by in the street, and men say, this is the animal for which such and such a man was stoned to death. I, 1 וכ׳ הדרכים את מתקנין they put in repair the roads and the open places (stations) &c. Pesik. R. s. 28 המועדות את מתקנים they arrange (fix the dates of) the festivals; R. Hash. I, 4.
