When I came last to Ludlow
⁠Amidst the moonlight pale,
Two friends kept step beside me,
⁠Two honest lads and hale.

Now Dick lies long in the churchyard
⁠And Ned lies long in jail,
And I come home to Ludlow
⁠Amidst the moonlight pale.
