Bruce, James Lewis Knight, created D.C.L. 13 June, 1834, a lord justice of appeal (Chancery) 1851-66, bar.-at-law, Lincoln's Inn, 21 Nov., 1817, K.C. and a bencher 1829, treasurer 1843, M.P. Bishop's Castle 1831, vice-chancellor and knighted 28 Oct., 1841, P.C. 1841, chief judge in Bankruptcy 1842-51, assumed the additional surname of Bruce by royal licence 4 Sep., 1837 (youngest son of John Knight, of Llanbethian, co.
