Downes, Robert, s. Henry, of Brington, Northants, bishop (of Meath). Pembroke Coll., matric. 15 July, 1721, aged 16; Merton Coll. B.A. 1724, M.A. 10 March, 1726-7 (? B. & D.D. Trinity Coll., Dublin, 1740), bishop of Ferns 1744, of Down 1752, and of Raphoe 1753, until his death 30 June, 1763. Cotton's Fasti, iii. 356.
