Probyn, John, s. William (Hopkins), of Newland, co. Gloucester, gent. Wadham Coll., matric. 10 Oct., 1737, aged 17; B.A. 1731, M,A. 1735, bar.-at-law, Lincoln's Inn, took the name of Probyn in lieu of Hopkins, M.P. Wootton Basset 1754-61, father of Edmund 1752.
