English: Cartoon: an anxious-looking lion bids "good night!" as he retreats from a glaring umpire upon a bone-strewn field, as Nero watches from his box. Illustration by Charles H. Wellington for the poem "The Laugh on Nero" by Grantland Rice. The picture appears on page 42 of Base-Ball Ballads, with the caption: "But lo, the victim stood his ground, and with a lordly air / He waved each lion and tiger back and gave them glare for glare."
