Magnolia grandiflora, shoot with flower; rather less than ½ nat. size.
- Flower after removal of the sepals and petals, showing the indefinite stamens, s, and carpels, c; ⅔ nat. size.
- Fruit — the ripe carpels are splitting, exposing the seeds, some of which are suspended by the long funicle; ¼ nat. size.
