DescriptionBurton Holmes Lectures – Seoul, Korea p 12 pic 1.jpg
English: Picture on page 12. The picture shows an earthen pier at Inchon (formerly called Chemulpo) near the mouth of the Han River in southern Korea in about 1901. In the background, away from the pier in deeper water, a small ship is anchored in the bay. Rowboats have been bringing sacks of rice from the pier to the ship for export to Japan and tourists from the ship to shore. The Korean dockworkers are wearing very loose-fitting clothing, the fashion in Korea at the time.
