Summary

Description
English: Fig. 728. Arms of Jasper Tudor, Duke of Bedford, Earl of Pembroke (c.1431-1495): Royal arms of King Henry VI differenced by a bordure azure charged with martlets or. (From his seal). Jasper Tudor was the second son of Sir Owen Tudor of North Wales and Queen Catherine of Valois, the widow of King Henry V of England. He was thus a uterine half-brother to King Henry VI, who granted him a new augmented coat of arms in place of his paternal arms of Tudor. He was a leading architect of the successful accession to the throne in 1485 of his nephew King Henry VII of England (first monarch of the Tudor dynasty). Although uncle of Henry VII, Jasper Tudor had no blood descent which would entitle him to bear these arms. His use of them is very remarkable.
