Description
English: Framed portrait of George R Marriner, circa 1900. 125(h) x 87(w) mm (oval). "A graduate of Canterbury College & Curator [at] Wanganui Museum. As a promising young New Zealand Scientist, he was the first to investigate the 'Kea' (mountain parrot) problem from a purely scientific point of view & after exhaustive investigation brought a verdict of 'guilty'. He died at Wanganui 25th Feb 1910." South Canterbury Museum 2015/154.055.
