Summary

Description
English: "Sports of the Times", by John Kieran, in the October 2, 1927 issue of The New York Times. Two days earlier, Babe Ruth had broken his own record (set in 1921) by hitting his sixtieth home run of the season. Kieran, who had published a poem about Ruth's resurgence some four months earlier, in the form of a question: "Was there ever a guy like Ruth?", responded to reader requests to reprint the original verses, and added some context, together with a third verse in answer to the original question, concluding, "There was never a guy like Ruth!".
