Description
English: Image from Oriental Scenery of Paraswa Râma Sabhâ.

Plate 5 of 'Hindoo Excavations in the Mountain of Ellora near Aurangabad,' engraved by Thomas Daniell after the drawings of James Wales, Daniell regarded this as the sixth set of his 'Oriental Scenery.'

The interior of this cave, dedicated to the Jain saint Parsvanath, has columns with square shafts, turning into the vase and foliage motif, amalaka capitals and plain brackets. It is visited from an upper level of the nearby Indra Sabha, and like the rest of the northern Jain group at Ellora dates from the early 9th century under Rashtrakuta patronage.
