Cette boite ronde en ivoire est l'un des trésors du département des arts de l'Islam. Elle a été exécutée en 968 pour le Prince al-Mughira, fils du Calife de Cordoue, Abd al-Rahman III, un umayyade.

Les Umayyades d'Espagne ne reconnaissant pas les Abbassides qui avaient pris leur place à Damas par la force, de nombreux éléments décoratifs de cette boite seraient en rapport avec ce conflit (selon le catalogue du département)
