Chance, Joseph Francis, an assistant solicitor to the treasury since April, 1879, a student of the Middle Temple 13 Nov., 1856, called to the bar 10 June, 1859 (youngest son of George Chance, Esq., H.M.'s civil service, of Brompton); born 16 Oct., 1836; married 1 Sept., 1859, Ellen Matilda, 2nd dau. of late Robert Knox, Esq., of London, registrar of mixed commission court Cape of Good Hope.
