Mowat, Robert Anderson, M.A. (fellow) All Souls' Coll., Oxon, matric. London Univ. Jan., 1864, assistant judge supreme court for China and Japan at Shanghae since 1878, acting chief justice Feb. to March, 1859, and May to Oct., 1881, law secretary to the consular court at Shanghae 1867-78, entered service in 1864, a student of the Inner Temple 2 Nov., 1869 (then aged 26), called to the bar 6 June, 1871 (only son of Joseph Mowat, of Edinburgh, dec.); born ⁠, 1843.
