FRANK CEJDA
Funeral rites for Frank Cejda, who passed away Sunday at his home on south Colfax street, were held Wednesday morning at St. Mary’s church, Rev. Fr. Zillig officiating. Interment was made in St. Michael’s cemetery.
Mr. Cejda had suffered a lengthy illness and had spent some time in a hospital in Omaha some months ago. During the latter part of his illness he was cared for at the family home, his daughter, Miss Matilda, a registered nurse, of Omaha, spending much time here assisting in his care. The cause of his death was lymphatic Lucemia.
Frank Cejda was born August 7, 1862 at Mileosko, county of Tabor, Bohemia, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cejda. He was brought to America in 1867 where the family settled in Wisconsin. In 1870 they came to West Point and took up a homestead in Colfax county near Howells in 1872.
He received his early schooling in the West Point public schools. He was married at Olean in 1885 to Miss Mary Parr who passed away several years later. One child, Anna, sister of M. Agnella, was born to this union.
Mr. Cejda returned to West Point in 1893 and in 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Brazda was survives him. Seven children were born to them, Ludmilla, Mrs. Albert Peatrowsky, of this city, Rudolph of West Point, Emil of Omaha, Stephen of Douglas, Kansas, Matilda of Omaha, Frank of Chicago and Miss Angella at home.
The survivors in the immediate family include the sorrowing widow and eight children named above, six grandchildren, one brother, John Cejda of Howells, and one sister, Mrs. D. J. Brazda of Wisner.
Mr. Cejda was engaged in the mercantile business in this city for about twenty-five years and was active in business circles until his failing health a few years ago prevented.
Among out of town relatives here for the funeral rites were Mr. and Mrs. John Cejda of Howells; Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Brazda and family and Mrs. and Mrs. Jerome Brazda of Wisner, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Parr, Mr. and Mrs. John Koster and Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Grewek all of Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Krupka of Howells and Mr. and Mrs. Minarek of Fremont.
