INTERJECTIONS

A few of the most common are as follows:—

အည်, eh! expressive of pain.

အမယ်, အ​မယ်​လေး, အ​မယ်​ကြီး​လေး, mother! denoting surprize or distress.

အလယ်, အလယ်​လေး, alas! expressive of pain.

အလို, အ​လို​လေး, oh! alas! denoting sorrow or distress.

အိမ်း, pron. eh, yes! expressive of assent.

အေ, don’t, disapprobatory—prohibitive.

အေ့ပော, aa haa! contemptuous.

အေး, အေး​အေး, yes!

အဲ, အဲအဲ, that’s right.

အော o! of various applications.

အောအော, o! expressive of satisfaction.

အော်, oh!

အို, o! vocative, or indicative of pain.

ယော, there now! expressive of disapprobation.

ယော့, here! take it!

လားလား, threatening.

သယ်, wonderful! rather ironical or disapprobatory.

သာမု, well done!

ဟေ့, haa! a familiar vocative, rather disrespectful.

ဟော, there! pointing to an object.
