Having noted irregularities in the use of place names in the original facsimile text, is it at all within the scope of these projects to offer any expansion, let's say, in the OCR text? Or should the edits stay strictly within the scope of the original (image) text, including any and all typos or factual errors in the original text?

I'm assuming the latter, but raising the question as a matter of general interest.

Also just trying to feel my way here, as a relative newcomer to the project.

The original text should remain as it is.  But we may correct typos — however, only when we are absolutely sure that it is just a typo, and not the original intention of the author. — Monedula 07:53, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
