Differences

[edit]

I have this poem in my memory with two differences:

"had just settled OUR BRAINS (not 'down') for a long winter's nap"

"as I drew in my HEAD (not 'hand') and was turning around"

I will look for the version in the 1950 edition of ChildCraft... unsigned comment by 68.82.58.75 (talk) 08:50, 6 December 2007.

I have reverted your edits to conform to the published text linked from the The Night Before Christmas page. Per our inclusion policy, Wikisource reproduces source texts in their originally published form. Although your individual recollection of the poem may be different, please do not alter the text of the page in such a way as to depart from the published original. (If you have a later published version available, it can be added to the main page under an appropriate heading such as ==Alternate Version==). Tarmstro99 15:12, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have included the original 1823 version, Moore's 1844 version and two publications in between showing changes in phrasing and reindeer names over that time. —MJBurrage(TC) 20:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Authorship

[edit]

The authorship controversy, as discussed on the wikipedia page, suggests that moore may not by the author after all.. this should be mentioned somewhere on the page.. 81.107.44.39 20:15, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Done, carful to only list known facts without drawing conclusions. —MJBurrage(TC) 20:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
