The Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon (1819)

In 1819-1820 Irving published The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, which includes his best known stories, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip van Winkle". The pieces for the Sketch Book were originally written by Irving when he was in Europe and were sent to his publishers in New York for publication in periodicals in the U.S.
