PORTE, Gabriel William Church, Architect and Artist. Educ. privately. Articled to Mr. John Seeds, 1916; began practice on own account 1920; design for Hornsey Temple of Memory premeditated 1920; selected for final competition, Portsmouth War Memorial, 1921; awarded the R.S.A. prize 1921. Executed work is principally Domestic Architecture, has designed many war memorials: is one of the foremost architects striving towards the developing of a national style of Architecture; b. 31 March, 1900.
