Being the 11th year of the present reign

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej gives a great royal command by which He orders with His pleasure that it be announced as follows:

Whereas it is appropriate to amend the law on Thammasat University;

Therefore, by and with the advice and consent of the House of Representatives, He orders with His gracious pleasure that the following Act be enacted:

​Section⁠1.⁠This Act is called the "Thammasat University Act (No. 3), 2499 BE".

Section⁠2.⁠This Act shall come into force from the day following the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section⁠3.⁠The stipulations of 2. of section 43 of the Thammasat University Act, 2495 BE, shall be repealed and replaced by the following stipulations:

"2.⁠A person who has received this degree from the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy shall, in the field of commerce, be called phanitchayasatbandit, abbreviated as phonobo, or, in the field of accountancy, be called banchibandit, abbreviated as bochobo."

​Note:The reasons for promulgation of this Act are as follows: Whereas persons who have completed education in the field of accountancy are not granted degrees but certificates of accountancy which are equivalent to bachelor's degrees; and whereas the curriculum of the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy has been revised for promotion of the growth of the education in these fields at the levels of bachelor's degree and master's degree; and whereas accountancy is taught at Thammasat University in the same manner as the subjects at other faculties or sections in the same university; therefore, persons who have completed education in the field of accountancy should be given the title of banchibandit instead of certificates of accountancy which are already equivalent to bachelor's degrees.
