This letter is posted here to clarify a matter that was misquoted on wiki. I am the author of the letter. The letter was sent through the Special:EmailUser function on Wikisource from my registered e-mail account to that of User:Londonjackbooks. The only editing is that I have redacted my e-mail address and added linebreaks to the header:

Hello LJB,

Two things:

1) I saw in the archive of your talk page a statement that you would never seek to be an admin. Does that mean that you would decline a nomination or merely that you would never ask for one? I am of the philosophy that every trustworthy and competent editor should be made an admin (and even eventually a crat) and that the more the better. I noted your comment seemed to be based in part upon a self-criticism on your skill in the area of copyrights. Just as all editors have their skill sets, so do all admins. Unlike some, I am not particularly competent with templates and I have only a rudimentary grasp of editing the MediaWiki pages. On the other hand, I have far more skill than average in copyrights (I'm a lawyer in the U.S.) My point being, I found the above when searching to see why you weren't already an admin with a thought towards nominating you. Please consider and if you decide you would accept a nomination I would offer to nominate you.

2) I sincerely hope that you are not falling for Cyg's position that anyone who can't count the number of pages they've gotten to validated status in the tens of thousands has no business or even just "less business" working on the organization of the project. Cyg's statements towards me and Billinghurst/sDrewth were insulting, not because they had merit but because they were such pitiful attempts at personal attacks. The very suggestion that Billinghurst's CU status had anything to do with Template:Header was laughable and the attack on me for the lack of page/main space edits was equally so (I edit on en/fr/de/la and old as well as en.wp). I mention this because I found it really disconcerting that he seemed to be drawing you in to this very part of his argument.

In any case, I hope you agree to the former and turn away from the latter. Take care,

Doug
