Note: E. L. Scott, "Yet Another "Mona Lisa" Adds to Mystery of Louvre Picture", Deseret News (February 14, 1914), p. 25. Another version of this article with much the same text as about the first half can be found at "English Picture May Be Original of 'Mona Lisa'", Detroit Free Press (February 15, 1914), p. 60. Is there a scan of this you can upload? Or at least further description of where you came across a 1914 news article? JesseW (talk) 05:46, 4 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

The article is available here, from Newspapers.com. BD2412 T 17:07, 7 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Are you able to extract the scan and upload it? JesseW (talk) 00:04, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I should be able to, yes. Bear in mind the native OCR for the page is awful, and much of the text is faded. Since the Detroit Free Press published part of the same article, I used that as a reference for the less legible parts. BD2412 T 02:30, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, although the fading problem is helped quite a bit by zooming in. Is there a scan of the Detroit article available? If so, we could just scan-back it from that... JesseW (talk) 02:53, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Now on Commons at File:Desert News Mona Lisa article.png. BD2412 T 03:04, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Nice -- can we get it set up as an Index and Page? JesseW (talk) 03:22, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure whether it needs to be a PDF to do that - I wasn't able to save it as one. BD2412 T 04:03, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
OK, we'll I've tried to get it working. We may need other people to help clean up our mess, though. JesseW (talk) 05:51, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
It has not been my understanding that scans of reference documents are required. I have added a number of other documents without such a scan. My impression was that they were just a tool to assist with the production of documents. BD2412 T 18:24, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sorry I was unclear! The only "mess" was referring to was my attempts to get the png set up with a Page and Index. The work itself is still fine, and welcome! JesseW (talk) 23:06, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
