User talk:Henry W. Schmitt~enwikisource
Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Wikisource! Thank you for joining the project. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Please consider putting a brief description of yourself on your user page. If you are already a contributor to another Wikimedia project, such as Wikipedia, please mention this on your user page so we know how to contact you. Also, mention which languages you understand if English is not your first language.
In any case, I hope you enjoy donating your time to grow the Wikisource library that is free for everyone to use! In discussions, please "sign" your comments using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question here (click edit) and place {{helpme}}
before your question.
Again, welcome! John Vandenberg 02:09, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Kiribati
[edit]Do you plan to add more works into Category:Constitution of Kiribati ? I suggest you create "Category:Kiribati" as a subcategory of Category:Works by country. John Vandenberg 03:34, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- I removed your ref because there is no need to record the source of a text on the page. The source is usually recorded on the talk page, and you have already done this.
- Similar to Commons, all pages on Wikisource must have a license tag. Who is the author of Constitution of Kiribati, when was it written, and are there any special copyright issues related to this work? John Vandenberg 06:28, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- The best approach is to look for the applicable copyright act of Kiribati, and read it. You want to find how it treats works by the government of Kiribati. For example, the copyright act of Australia specifically states that all works of the Australian government are copyright for 50 years from the date of publication. In a lot of countries, the copyright act explicitly excludes copyright over certain works of or related to the government; e.g. {{PD-INGov}}.
- My opinion is that constitutions, laws, etc of foreign countries are not copyright according to the principle behind {{PD-EdictGov}}, however copyright is a minefield, especially international copyright. That tag currently doesnt mention "foreign", due to this discussion:

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Henry W. Schmitt. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Henry W. Schmitt~enwikisource that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
