Thanks for working on this Portal. I have made one edit for a suggested format change. Instead of listing every author as an individual header (which will eventually make the page cumbersome), if you intend to organize by author, perhaps linking the author as a bulleted point in the list? --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:03, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip! It looks better. --Arbitan (talk) 03:19, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the portal description. It is not an exhaustive catalog, instead limiting content to works likely to be taught in a course on American literature. Including every work written in America within a single portal isn't useful. --EncycloPetey (talk) 23:56, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You could start a new Portal:20th-century American novels or Portal:American novels of the 20th century to hold a broader range of those works. --EncycloPetey (talk) 00:12, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry about that. Thanks for the heads up. --Arbitan (talk) 00:43, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I found your thoughts on this topic interesting. You don't appear to have considered Colon classification. I'm unsure whether it is under copyright but it may be able resolve many of the issues of USA-centrism inherent in the current system. Helrasincke (talk) 19:29, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've considered it but couldn't find much documentation. It also seems to be limited to a subset of libraries in India. I'm not crazy about the design of the Dewey system, but one advantage it has is its wide implementation across the English-speaking world. Arbitan (talk) 21:04, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
