Speedy deletion requests[edit]

Hi Jdavid2008! I see that you added notes to The First Psalm (Taylor), The book of Ruth (Taylor), Cross Bearing (Taylor), and The Great Father (Taylor) indicating that the pages could be deleted because the content had been moved to another page. In case an admin does not review the Recent Changes log closely enough, a slightly better and faster way to accomplish what you have requested is to add the {{sdelete}} tag to the page indicating the reason for the deletion. I have now tagged each of those four pages for speedy deletion along with the reasons (in these instances, “per author’s request”). If you have any additional pages that should be deleted, please feel free to add the {{sdelete}} tag to them. Tarmstro99 12:34, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kudos[edit]

Excellent work adding the Hudson Taylor texts. I have a copy of China: It's Spiritual Need and Claims from 1865 that is slightly different, but in many ways less expansive. You've done a wonderful job. Brian0324

3 John[edit]

I'll take your suggestions. Also, I do not know Greek, I am working from knowledge of English translations & some of their words. Also, do you have suggestions for where I should work & who I should know? Laleena 16:02, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Open Bible SVG[edit]

Note, I have marked an image that you uploaded, Image:Wikibible.svg, to be deleted as a duplicate of media on the commons project. Cheers, John Vandenberg 00:54, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Everything looks wonderful. --Yemenim 19:48, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Exodus Translation and Basics[edit]

Thanks for your welcome to this project. I was very excited to chance upon it as I've had an interest in such an undertaking for quite some time, just never knew where to begin, etc. And when I saw one hadn't been started in Spanish, I thought this would be a great opportunity.

Now, I've gone ahead and listed my sources in the discussion, but I have some issues with the basics. As you can see, I don't really know how to sign automatically after posting a comment, so the time and date appear. I thought the system did that automatically, but I don't know how to set it up.

And I'm not so sure I understand this thing about GPL. I saw mention of it on the main page here, but I didn't understand what it was. I'll make the modification to the Spanish site as soon as possible. Thanks again for your help! I look forward to contributing positively to this project. -- JoeNYCBoi, 16 December 2007

Colossians[edit]

Jdavid2008, thank you for the response, sorry, I'm new here and don't exactly know what I'm doing. I'm just slowly trying to translate Colossians b/c it is one of my favorite books in the NT. Please help--Ilumixochi

Thank you for the help and encouragement. I'm looking forward to working on this, though it might be slowly. I might have more questions, so I'll be back. --Ilumixochi

bible project specific welcoming[edit]

There are a few newcomers on Wikisource:WikiProject Wiki Bible to be welcomed by a project member. I think it would be good to develop a specialised welcome template for people joining this project. Often people start on the project without officially joining the project, so the welcome could advise them to officially join. Maybe it would be useful to also direct them to the primary sources currently available on the Greek, Hebrew and Latin Wikisource projects. It could also describe some of the key points like "dont copy from other translations", "identify the sources you are using on the talk page", perhaps a few style guidelines, etc.

Template:welcome-bible ?

Looking good! I think it would be useful to explain to newcomers that PD reference material can also be added, like I did here. OTOH, maybe that should be mentioned on Wikisource:WikiProject Wiki Bible. I'll leave that to your judgement. John Vandenberg (chat) 22:30, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
hmm, good idea... maybe i should do something like that--then people who come to work on the bible project can know what other options they can spend their time on ;). About the template...i wasn't really sure how to do it, so i'll probably still think and add to it as time goes by. Feel free to also...--Jdavid2008 03:04, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello![edit]

John sent me an email, I'm emailing a hello to you. Alastair Haines 11:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've written a review of 3 John. What would be outstanding is for someone to interact with the review. For the review, I made an assessment, comments and recommendations. I have not actually altered the text, leaving that for someone who interacts with the review.
If you find "reviewing the review" a constructive exercise in 3 John, you may like to do the same with my review of 2 John.
Finally, it will take me some time to complete 1 Cor 1-14, and reviewing all of that will be a major effort, probably best done chapter by chapter by one or more translators at some point after I've finished. However, I would really appreciate a review of 1 Cor 13. I don't think I'm going to be able tweak it much more to my satisfaction. So, if you could review it, I'd be very appreciative.
In return, I'd love to review any of your own work that you were happy to point me at. Alastair Haines 11:42, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Romans[edit]

Hi: Have just uploaded my translation of Romans to the Wikisource Bible page. Needs much work in terms of formatting and footnoting etc--but I have no idea of the system here. Apparently it also needs a header! I leave such thing to those who know what they're doing! Glad to see the project still progresses, though slowly...
