Lancelot Ridley[edit]

I have done three passes on Page:Dictionary of National Biography volume 48.djvu/291 and you should be able to track the markup and format conventions from the diffs and summaries. Not to give you too much detail at this point, I'd do some things slightly differently. Wikisource:WikiProject DNB/Style Manual and Wikisource:WikiProject DNB/Walkthrough should be helpful at some point.

Now for transclusion! The best thing is to use

{{subst:DNBset
 |article=
 |previous=
 |next=
 |volume =
 |contributor =
 |wikipedia =
 |extra_notes=
 |from=
 |to=
 |section=
}}

which does it all at once. Filled in as

{{subst:DNBset
 |article= Ridley, Lancelot
 |previous= Ridley, James
 |next= Ridley, Mark
 |volume = 48
 |contributor = William Arthur Shaw
 |wikipedia =
 |extra_notes=
 |from= 291
 |to= 291
 |section= Ridley, Lancelot
}}

it is ready to paste in. I'd go to Author:William Arthur Shaw usually to create it. NB that {{DNB WAS}} not only formats the author initials, but creates a link to the author page. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:13, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So now Ridley, Lancelot (DNB00) exists. Wikisource:WikiProject DNB/Transclusion for more on the mechanism. It should be linked from the author page (is already), and also Dictionary of National Biography, 1885-1900/Vol 48 Reilly - Robins. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:16, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I got a lot to learn. Thank you for your help. So sorry about missing the formatting conventions until after my proofreading. By the way, I did spot a one ligature; I just missed the one you spotted. Thank you again for your help --Senra (talk) 11:18, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:21, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again[edit]

You left a number of messages for me when I was away (holiday in Southwold). I'll be replying in the next day or so over on my talk page. Charles Matthews (talk) 16:52, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
