- Five of those cannot be legally added here; they are still under copyright in the United States. Only All's Well That Ends Well and The Comedy of Errors are eligible to be hosted on Wikisource. The volumes from 1927 will not enter PD until next year, and Hathi Trust could face legal issues if they do not take those copies down. The copy of Measure for Measure you linked to is the 1954 2nd. ed., which will remain under copyright for considerably longer. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:27, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- @EncycloPetey Thank you for clarifying the copyright status of these. What about this copy of Measure for Measure [8]. It says 1926 on the page with no other date given. Languageseeker (talk) 23:05, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- That copy is the first edition, and is in public domain. However, I recommend checking through the entire scan, page by page, to be sure it is complete and correct before asking someone to create the scan for us. Google Books scans are notoriously problematic. --EncycloPetey (talk) 23:08, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- Just to note: both of the eligible scans (All's Well and Comedy; and this Measure listed on the Portal) are showing up as restricted for me on HathiTrust (probably geolocked) so I can do nothing about them, but if anyone with access can get the image files to me I can generate DjVus. If you have interactive web access and use a machine with a unix-ish command line (Linux, *BSD, macOS, etc.) I can give you a curl command-line for it. Upload is a bit worse but we can probably figure out something (if you have Dropbox you could share a zip link from that). Xover (talk) 08:23, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

- @Languageseeker, @Mpaa, @Pokechu22: Interesting. I took a look since I was the one that generated the original upload. I used some tooling that attempts to automatically deskew (make horizontal), crop (remove borders around the page), and separate the foreground (text) from the background (the paper). It worked reasonably well on the rest of the work (and was a great time-saver!), although you can see some artefacts on some pages, but on these two pages it has apparently decided that the missing blocks of text were part of the background and replaced them with white pixels. It is probably due to those scan artefacts in the left margin, insufficient separation from that to the text, and the off-straight orientation of the page. But that's a pretty nasty bug that's really hard to detect, and will look like a problem with the original copy unless you're actively looking for it. Thanks for catching that, and I'll certainly check the output with greater paranoia if I ever try to use that algorithm again. Xover (talk) 06:52, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- Just so you know, you also originally didn't have the title page (and the blank page before it); I'm not sure whether that was caused by a similar issue (the blank page before the title is very artefacted, and the title page itself has a decent amount of them in the left margin, though they don't seem to overlap as much as 189 or 191).
