NOVI LIGURE, a town of Piedmont, Italy, in the province of Alessandria, from which it is 14 m. S.E. by rail, situated among wooded hills, 646 ft. above sea-level. Pop. (1901) 17,868. It was the scene of a victory by the Austrians and Russians under Suvorov over the French in 1799. It is now an important railway junction, the main lines from Turin and Milan to Genoa converging here. Cotton, silk, coal briquettes, &c., are also manufactured here.
