MENDAI, or MENDAEANS, otherwise called Christians of St. John, or Hemero Baptists, which see. "These ambiguous christians (says Mosheim) dwell in Persia and Arabia, and principally at Bassora, and their religion consists in bodily washings, performed frequently and with great solemnity".[1]
