אד m. (b. h., an apocopated form of אדע, cmp. זוע, אדיותא, נאד) vapor, cloud. Gen. R. s. 13 (homil. etym.). וכ׳ אידן שובר שהוא אד cloud is called ed (destroyer) because it breaks the ed (distress of scarcity) looked for- ward to by the speculators in the market. V. איד.

אדא IV m. (b. h. צדה; cmp. b. h. עד prey, a. איד destruction) fowler, one who puts up baits, snares &c. for other people's doves. Snh. 25a (explain. mafrihe yonim, Mishn.) א׳ אמר- ר׳ Ms. M. a. Oxf., a. Ar. (ed. ארא; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l., a. Ar.) R --says, the Mishnah means a fowler (to be disqualified as witness &c.).
