אחוונא m. (v. אחוא) 1) meadow-grass, grass (as fodder). Y. Ber. VI, 10a, bot. -- 2) willow twigs used for kindling, kindling wood. Sabb. 20a (explain. אח Jer. XXXVI, 23; v. אחוה 1, end) אחוונא (Var. אחונא) willow- fire. Ib. one cried וכ׳ א׳ בעי מאן who wants Ahvana?, and it was found he had willow twigs for sale. -- 3) willlow- bast.
