*אפפון m. (or אפפין m. pl.) thick web. Midr. Till. to Ps. XVIII, 5 (explain. afafuni ib.) when a woman weaves with two double threads א׳ נקראין הן they are called ifafon (ifafin); so did David say וכ׳ אפפוני roubles wove around me and came over me doubled.

אפקרותא (אפיקרותא) f. (פקר; v. אפיקורוס)mak- ing free, irreverence, contempt of the Law and its teach- ers. M. Kat. 16a לאלתר לאפיק׳ for contempt of the Law excommunication ispronounced forthwith (without warn- ing). Snh. 100a אפק׳ כי מיחזי מי Ms. M. אפקרסין, אפיקרסין, אפיקריסין, איפ׳ f pl. (also used as sing. a. m.) (פקר, withformat. ס; v. אפיקורוס; cmp. אברקין, פקרסין, סבריקין, ספרקין, a. אונקליII) uundress, (negigee), whence underwear, the garment next to the skin, shirt, bathing or night gmwn, sheet. Y. Ber. II, 4b top וכ׳ היה אפיק׳ he had an undergarment on beneath; cmp. Pesik. R. s. 22. - Pesik. Shek. p. 15b sq. אפיקריסין (sing. a. pl); Lev. R. s. 24; (Ib. s. 2 פרקסין, פקרסין). Y. Pes. VIII, 36b top בא׳ המעביר he who carries a skeleton wrapped in sheets; Y. M. Kat. I, 80d top. -- Ib. III, end, 83 מעכבת א׳ אין (Bab. ib. 22b אפיקרסותו) his underwear (shirt) forms no check (but must likewise be rent; diff. in Rashi a. l.). Treat. S'mahoth XII אפיקריסין (Tur Yor. Deah 203 אפרסקא). Nidd. 48b בא׳ נישוף is rubbed against their underwear (corset &c.). Hag. 26a נפל ואפי׳ לתוכו או Ms. M. (read נפלה, ed. נפל omitted) even if his underwear fell into it, (the vessel remains clean). Mikv. X, 4 שבכתף אפרקסותו של הקשר Ar. ed. Koh. (ed. שבפרקסים) the knot of one's bathing sheet which is on the shoulder.

*אפר, Y. Bicc. II, beg. 64c bot. חמשים א׳, שתין א׳-. The entire passage is corrupt, and allows no inference that אפר means (=עבר) to pass, be past. The text pos- sibly read; אפי׳, בהיכרת שהוא דבר ועשה חמשים (בן) אפי׳ דתני כהא כהיכרת מת מיתה בעון שהוא דבר ועשה ששים (בן) וכ׳ חנינ׳ י׳. [חדי רב אבל a. חדי אבל ibid. (read: רבתי אבל) is a gloss referr. to S'mahoth ch. III.]
