אפרא II, אפרה (איפרא) ch.=h. אפר. Targ. I Chr. XXI, 15 וכ׳ דעקדת׳ א׳ the ashes of Isaac's offer- ing, v. אפר. -- Y. Taan. II, 67a a foolish son וכ׳ בעיני א׳ is ashes in the eyes of his mother (תוגת by permutation אפרא; v. א״ת).
אפרגיא, אפרגזיא, אפרגסיא f. (απραγια, argdu) inactivity, cessation of labor, holiday. Pesik. Sh'mini, p. 195a (v. Buber note 66 to p. 193a) if both of us open (sales) at the same time אפרגיא עושין אנו הרי במדינה (Ar. Var. אפרגיזא, אפרגינה, read אפרגזיא) we shall create a cessation of labor in the district (as all the laboring people will run to the market town on one and the same day; Yalk. Num. 782 זול from misunderstand- ing); Cant. R. to VII, 2 אפרגייס (read אפרגייא or אפרגסייא). Pesik. R. s. 41 R. אפרודיטי f. (Αφροδιτη) Aphrodite, a Greek goddess (Venus). Ab. Zar. III, 4 א׳ של מרחן a bath where A. has a statue. Ib. we do not say, the bath has been built נוי וכ׳ לא׳ as an ornament of A., but we say, A. is an orna- mental attachment to the bath. Y. Shebi. VIII, end 38b א׳ להדא מזלפין squirting water (as a libation) to A.
