ארך ( אר, cmp. ארג) to join, weave; whence to arrange, plan; v. ערןך. -- V. אריך II, ארוכה &c.
ארך o ארך (b. h.; אר, cmp. Schr. KAT p. 497 ארג; cmp. also גדל to plait, to be tall) to be [pointed, stretched,] long, tall. Hif. האריך 1) to prolong, bc long in doing. Ber. I, 4 להאריך אמרו they commended a lengthy benediction. Ib. 34a; cmp. ארכן. Yoma 35b בתפלתו הא׳ staid long in prayer. -ימים־ הא׳ to live long. Meg. 27b; a. fr. -- Ber. 8b, a. fr. ימיו מאריכין his ife will be prolonged. - פנים, רוח הא׳ to be long-sufering, forbearing. Y. Shebu. IV, beg. 35b; a. fr. -- Y.Taan. *ארכבתא f. (רכב) (a rider,) the uppermost layer of a clay dam around a field. B. Mets. 103b בוכרא the first, טפתא the additional (middle), א׳ the uppermost. [Targ. Y. Lev. IX, 17 read אדכרתה.]
ארכה f. h. (v. ארכא II) extension, a certain time. Num. R. s. I4 (p. 259a ed. Amst.) וכ׳ א׳ להם נתן allowed them a certain time but finally punished them.

ארכובה f. (רכב) 1) the leg from under the hip-bone to the ankle, the knee and its surrounding parts (contain- ing three sections each of which is called א׳ and defined by a different surname). Hull. IV, 6; v. ib. 76a (also דכובה); a. fr. -- 2) anything joined, joint. Kil. VII, 1 שבגפן הא׳ (Tosef. ib. IV, 11, Var. שבסלע הבריכה) that part of the vine which is bent down and laid in the ground to rise at another place. Y. Meg. I, 71c bot. למ״ד של א׳ the lower joint of the Lammed. Kel.
