בייכא m. (בוך; cmp. סבכה, סבכתא) net, head-dress. B. Bath. 146a 'small presents', וסבכתא בייכא רבא תרגמה Ar. s. v. ייכא (ed. בייבא, Ms. M. ביוב׳, Ms. H. ביוכא, cmp. comment. ב׳ כגון; v. Koh. Ar. Compl. s. v.) said R., This means e. g. a net or a cfp.

בייר m. (denom. of ביר or בור, cmp. בור Pi. 2) superintendent of the well in rural communities. Shebi. VIII, 5 וכ׳ לב׳ לא נותנין אין (out of the money realized from the fruits of the Sabbath year) you must not pay the well-master &c.; לשתות לב׳ הוא נותן אבל but you may pay the well-master a fee for giving you water to drink. Tosef. B. Mets. IX, 14 וכ׳ והבלן הב׳ (Y. ib. beg. 12a ed. Krot. הכ׳, corr. acc.) the well-master, the bather &c. when collecting their fees from the owner (individually), may attach only the owner's share in the produces. Ib. VIII, 11d' top הב׳ מן שאלה; [Bab. ib. 97b מחבריה מידי למישאל, read מביירא ch.].

ביישן m. 1) (בוש) bashful, chaste; chaste person, bashful man. Ned. 20a ב׳ שהוא באדם יפה סימן it is a. favorable indication in a man that he is bashful. Ab. II, 5. הב׳ he who is ashamed (to ask questions at school); a. e. -- Pl. ביישנים, ביישנין. Yeb. 79a. Y. Snh. VI, 23 בויישנין(); Num. R. s. 8; Midr. Sam. ch. XXVIII; Midr. Till. to Ps. ביל, בול ch. (cmp. b. h. בלל) to mix, knead; trnsf. (cmp. גרס, דרש) to study thoroughly. Men. 65a (play on בלשן, Neh. VII, 7; cmp. בלש) ודריש. . .. בייל הוה he studied languages and explained them. *Pa. בייל same; trnsf. to discuss. Y. Ab. Zar. III, 43a נייבל אוביל דתני מאן (read נבייל) he who reads in the Mish. (III, 5; v. בין Hif.) obil, means, Let us discuss the subject.
בילגה, בלגה (b. h.) pr. n. m. Bilgah, chief of a priests' division; whence, fem. (sub. משפחת) name of a. priests division, v. משמר. Succ. V, 8 וכ׳ לעולם ב׳ the Bilgah division at all times distributes its shares of the show-bread in the Southern part of the Temple courts. Ib. 56b; Tosef. ib. IV, 28 בילגא ed. Zuck.
בילדין, Targ. Y. II Num. XII, 7, v. לבלר.
בילה f. (=בלילה, fr. בלל, cmp. נידה Lam. I, 8; עילה a. עלילה) thorough mixture, even distribbution of mixed objects. Zeb. 80a ב׳ יש a mixture is considered evenly distributed in all its parts. R. Hash. 13b ב׳ אין לכל none of the mixtures named is a real mixture (of even distri- bution), except wine and oil (being liquid). Hull. 83b, a. fr. וכ׳ לב׳ הראוי כל wherever from the proportions and properties of the mixture a perfect fusion is possible, the real act of mixing thoroughly is not indispensable.

*בילק (בלק Ar.) pr. n. m. Billak, in conjunction with חילק, חלק, fictitious names for any men (similar to our Tom, Dick & Harry'). Hull. 19a וכ׳ ח׳ לא אנא I know no Hillak and no Billak (I know of no authorities or in- dividual opinions), I only know a tradition. Snh. 98b להו אכלי וב׳ ח׳ (margin in Ms. M. בלק חלק) shall H. a. B. (any persons indiscriminately) enjoy it?
