bayith means a building intended for a dwelling. Ib. מי לו ביתו שמייחד (Var. v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) he who devotes his house (its contents) to himself exclusively (unaccommodating); Arakh. 16a וכ׳ שמיוחד מי. -הב׳־ בעל (abbrev. בע״ה) owner, landlord; host; private man, opp. to trader, artisan &c.
