R. s. 42, end עלי בוסרת היתה כך so did she slight me. Ib. s. 3 beg.; s. 45 וכ׳ על הוא בוסר he will treat his pro- phetic mission lightly. Tanh. Ekeb 1 בהן בסרתי have lI become overbearing because I observed thy commands? (Tanh. ed. Bub. 2 כפרתי, v. note a. l.). Ib. Mikkets 10 וכ׳ בשעת בוסר תהא לא be not haughty in happiness, so as to refuse to pray. Ib. (ed. Bub.) Emor 29 עליהן בוסר; Tanh. ib. 20 (some ed. בוחר, corr. acc.) thinks lightly of them. --Part. pass. בסר, fem. בסורה contemptible. Tanh. Sh'moth 11. Pi. ביסר same. Ex. VI, 40a מבסרתהון בעא (מבסרתון; read בהון מבסר) he wanted to despise them (reject their authority).
בסר II (בס, v. בסם) to begin to boil, to be in the first stage of ripening; v. next w. -- Denom. בוסרר, בסורה. -- Trnsf. (v. בשר) to be glad. Gen. R. s. 34 end (play on. בשר לב, Ezek. XXXVI, 26), [read as; Yalk. Gen. 61 לב חבירו של בחלקו בוסר a heart rjoicingin the good fortune of his neighbor. -- V. בשו.
בסר ch. same. 1) Part. בסיר m., בסירא f., pl. בסירן in the early stage of ripening. Targ. Y. Ex. IX, 34 בסירן . . . סערייא Ar. (ed. כסידא . . . . סרתא, כסירא, read בסירא; h. text אביב). -2) to be cheerful; v. בשר.

בעבוע m. (v. next w.) casting bubbles, bulging, bulge. Mikv. X, 4 (of garments dipped in water until they are soaked through) מבעבוען וינוחו and cease from bulging. T'bul Yom II, 8 שבחבית ב׳ (an imperfection in an earthen jug) a protuberance. בעבע (rup. of בו; cmp. בצב) 1) to cat bubbles. to form protuberances, to bulge. Mikv. X, 4 שיבעבעו עד until they (the garments dipped in water) form bulges; v. preced. Yalk. Sam. 157; Midr. Till. to Ps. XVIII, 3 (read;) עליו ויורד מבעבע המשחה שמן שהיה the oil of anointment came bubbling down upon him. -- 2) to strggle in the water, swim. Y. Sabb. XIII, 14b top.; Y. Sot. III, 19a top. וכ׳ מב׳ תינוק a child strugling in the river. Y. Yoma III, 41a וכ׳ מב׳ התחיל commenced casting up bubbles from under the ship (Bab. ib. 38a מבצבצת).
*בעבע ch. (v. בעי) to ask entrance, knock at the door. Lev. R. s. 21; Pesik. Ahare, p. 177a מבעבע הוה used to knock. [Ar. reads כעכע, quoting Lev. R. l. c. also for a. Hebrew verb לכעכע; Rashb. to Pes. 112a quotes נענע.]
בעד (Arab.) to keep off. Imper. IV אבעד. Cant. R. to IV, 1 (ref. to מבעד ib.) וכ׳ ערבי ל׳ it is Arabic; if one desires to say to one, Make room for me (or,Let me alone), he says לי אבעד (some ed. מבעד).

בעוט m. (בעט) 1) treading grapes, or trodden grapes. Targ. Is. X, 33; Targ. Joel IV, 13 (ed. בעוט); Targ. Is. LXIII, 3 ביעוט. - 2) a kick with the foot. Y. Taan. IV, 68d bot. וכ׳ ב׳ חד ליה יהב he gave him one kick and killed him; Lam. R. to II, 2 ברגליה בעיטא חד.
בעור, בעורא (בעיר) m. (בער) toreh, fre h. לפיד). Targ. O. Gen. XV, 17 (Y. מבעיר); a. e. - Pl. בעורין, בעוריא. Targ. Nah. II, 5 בע׳ (ed. Vien.). Targ. Job XLI, 11; a. e. - B. Mets. 85b דאשא ב (Ms. M. דנור).

בעט I (בע, v. בוע) to swell, bulge. Midd. III, 8 יבעטו שלא marg. vers. (or יבעטו Nif.; text יבעט sing.) that the walls should not bulge.
בעט II (b. h.; בע, akin to בץ, בט) to trample, strike, kick. Y. Yoma VIII, 45b top פרדה בעטתו a mule kicked him. Ex. R. s. 30 בפילקי ב׳ knocked against the prison door (burst it open). Ab. Zar. IV, 8 בעוטה גת a. wine press packed with stamped grapes. --Trnsf. (with ב) to resist, reect. Sabb. 104a, v. אח״ס. Pi. ביעט same. B. Kam. II, 1. מבעטת היתה if the animal kicked. Ber. 32a; a. e. -- Trnsf. to kick against, rebel, be contummacious. Sot. 22a. Y. Ber. IX, 14b bot., a. e. בייסורין מבעט bearing suffering with contumacy (instead of showing repentance). Pesik. R. s. 47; Yalk. Job 908 מב׳ התחיל (aub. בייסורין) began to be contum- acious (challenging the Lord).
