גזורא m. (גזר) circumciser, surgeon.- Pl. גזוריא. Y. Keth. V, 30a וכ׳ לגזירה חכים אנא (corr. לגזודיה) I (as an infant) could distinguish the surgeons that attended me at circumcision.

גזז (b. h.) to cut, shear. Pesik. R. s. 1I (play on אגוז גינת, Cant. V, 11) וכ׳ אותה גוזז שאני הגינה the garden which I trim at all times. Ib. when they sin אני מיד גוזזם I cut (punish) them at once; Yalk. Cant. 992. -- Hull. 138a לגו צאנו הא but when he hires his (the gentile's) sheep for shearing (Rashi לגזו). Ib. לגזוז; a. e. -- Part. pass. גזוז (v. גזה) covered with fleece. lKoh. R. to , 9 a. time will come when the wolf וכ׳ ג׳ להיות shall have a. fleece of fine wool. Nif. נגז to be cut, trimmed, shorn. [kts. I, 4 שדרכם את וכ׳ ליגזז those plants which usually are cut but which have been taken out with their roots. Pesik. R. l. c.; Yalk. l. c. וכ׳ מיד ׳ שהוא דבר כל whatever (plant) is cut (trimmed) soon drives new shoots and grows better. Cant.
