*גסיוטאי m. pl. n. gent. (Κασιωτις, Κασιος) in- habitants of Casiotis, a district surrounding Mount Casius, East of Pelusium in Egypt. Targ. Y. I Gen. X, 14 נסיוט׳ (corr. ׳, Y. II פילוסאי; h. text פתרסים); Targ. I Chr. I, 12 נסיוט׳, נסאט׳ (corr. acc.).

גסס (v. גוס II; cmp. גיסא III) to recline, to dine. Y. Snh. III, 21 top וכ׳ גו למיגוס אשגח cared to remain undisturbed at a banquet among the guests. Esth. R. tto I, 8 וכ׳ מיגס דבעי where one wants first to dine and then to drink. Lev. R. s. 28 why dost thou not allow the guests דיגסון to eat? Koh. R. to II, 17; a. fr. -- Denom. מגס, מגיסתא &c.

געגוע, גיעגוע, m., pl. געגועים, געגועין, גי׳ (reduplic. of געי) lowing, roaring; trnsf. 1) homesickness, longing (as the cow lows after her calf). Sabb. 66b לו שיש בן וכ׳ גיע׳ Ms. M. (ed. omit לו) a son who is homesick for his father. Snh. 39a. Ib. 63b. -- 2) sulky, rebellious conduct, howling (of children). 11anh. Shmoth 1; Ex. R. s. 1, beg. וכ׳ אברחם על ג׳ לו שהיו who behaved rebelliously against his father.
געגע (=עגעג, cmp. קעקע) to roll. Hithpa. התגעגע, הג׳ to roll ond's self. Cemt. געגע, Ithpa. אתגעגע, איגעגע ch. same, to roll one's self, wallow. Lam. R. to II, 2 as long as that hen מתגנגעא בקיטמא wallows in the ashes (as srael lives in its re- igious element). Koh. R. to XI, 1בדמא מגעגעין מנין clothes rolled in blood (suspicious of murder). -- Tanh. Ahare 3 (ref. to Job XXXIX, 30) וכ׳ בדם מגעגעין אפרוחיו חמי he sees his brood wallowing in blood (Aaron sees his sons dead), and is silent; Lev. R. s. 20 באדמא . . . . ראה Ar. (ed. באדמה); Pesik. געגעא m. (preced.; cmp. חוגג) rolling; (דמיא) ג׳ cataract. Lam. R. to I, 17, v. אגוגא.
געי, געה (b. h.; cmp. גוח) to burst forth, to roar, low. Midr. Till. to Ps. CXXXVII, beg., a. e. וכ׳ געו, v. בכיה. -- Gen. R. s. 31, end אמו וגעת and the whelp's mother roared. Yalk. Gen. 101 וכ׳ געייה ג׳ cried loudly. Hull. 38a top גועה if the animal lows (when taken to slaughter). Tosef. Bekh. VII, 10 ועות. Y. Taan. II, beg. 65a חשבנו וכ׳ נועים כאלו egard us as if we were lowing before thee (in agony) like cattle; a. fr.

געייה, געיה f. (preced.) roaring, crying in agony. Yalk. Gen. 101, v. געי. Tana d'be El. I, ch. III וגעו בכו אחת ג׳ they wept and burst forth in one loud cry of agommy.

געילה f. (next w.) loathing, rejection. Lam. R. to V, 20; Pesik. R. s. 31; Yalk. Is. 332.
געל (h. h.; cmp. גאל) to be covered with impurity, be loathsome; to loathe. V. preced. Hif. הגעיל to remove impurity by means of hot water, to cleanse. Ab. Zar. V, 12 יגעיל להגעיל שדרכו את a vessel which ordinarily is cleansed with hot water, must be purified for ritual purposes by means of hot water. Ib. 76a וכ׳ מגעילן כיצד how must one disinfect them? You put a smaller vessel into a larger one &c.; a. fr. -- Y. Ter. XI, 48a בחמין מגעילה removes the soakings of T'rumah &c. [Y. Maasr. I, end, 49b שיגעיל, read משיעגל, v. כגל.] V. הגעלה. גער (b. h. גער) to shout, to rebuke. Targ. Zech. III, 2 ed. Lag. (ed. יזיף). -- Kidd. 81b וכ׳ ביה נגער רחמנא the Lord rebuke Satan. Gen. R. s. 56 ביה דיגער גברא ההוא that man of whom it is said, Rebuke him (Satan; with ref. to Zech. l. c.).
געש (b. h.) 1) to rush forth, to quake, be agitated. Yalk. Josh. 35 (cit. fr. Sabb. 105b, ref. to געש הר Josh. XXIV, 30) להרגם ההר עליהם שג׳ מלמד it intimates that the mountain over them quaked (threatening) to slay them; Sabb. l. c. שרגש. Cant. R. to III, 10 וכ׳ הים ג׳
